Here are five simple ways to become an early riser.
Waking up in the morning can be a daily struggle for some people. But with a little training anyone can wake up early. Not only does it give you more time in the day but it also jump starts your mind to be more productive at work. Research has shown that early risers are more likely to anticipate problems, proactive and better planners.
Have a reason to get out of bed
Before you go to sleep, write down what you need to do in the morning or why you are getting up early. If you have no reason then you probably will sleep in.
Fool your internal clock
It is harder to cut sleeping in cold turkey. Take baby steps to adjust to the earlier schedule. Set your alarm back 10 minutes every two days to help your body and mind adapt.
More than likely you are on the internet or watching television right before you try to go to sleep. This is a large contributor to not being able to sleep well. The light from the screen tricks your mind into thinking it’s not time to sleep.
Jump out of bed
And this means literally. It will reduce the chances of hitting the snooze button and sleeping for another 30 minutes.
All of those diets told you to not eat carbs after 4pm. Well, now it will help promote sleep as long as there is a mix of carbs, calcium, and protein. Cereal and milk is a good example of a snooze-inducing snack. Eat some an hour before bedtime and you will feel more alert in the morning.
