How to Repurpose a Book Binder

Don’t get rid of those old books you aren’t using anymore! You can re-purpose them by making a binder out of it. Here is what you’ll need:

  • Old Book
  • Earth Choice Binder
  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • X-Acto knife
  • Spray Adhesive
  • Small screws and bolts

Make sure the book is large enough to accommodate a 1″ binder ring, both length wise and the spine will need to be wide enough. Take the X-Acto knife and remove the pages. Keep the endpaper in-tact to cover the binding (that will be shown later). All of the pages will be released one you cut it apart from the endpaper.

Take the remaining endpaper and use spray adhesive to adhere it to the exposed binding. You could also remove the endpaper and replace it with scrapbooking paper.

Cut off the excess paper.

Next, you will need to remove the ring metal from the Earth’s Choice binder. Simply, remove the screws with a Flathead screwdriver.

Set up your binder ring mechanism where you want it positioned in the book. You can use your X-Acto knife to poke holes for the screws.

To ensure a secure fit, barely make a hole with the X-Acto knife then put the screw through the outside.

Here is what it will look like from the outside.

Now add your contents. Since this book is a cooking book, recipes would be great to add in here.
